Baking anything good?

Lately i’ve been mad about Mad Men, the US series about Madison Avenue advertising executives set in the ’60s and i spotted the gorgeous sofa/bed that Betty is lying on while at the psychologist…. Well turns out it is a famous piece of furniture called the Barcelona day bed!

My other addiction lately…. Chocolate! Hmm so comforting to buckle up under a blanket and open up one of those Santa chocs!  🙂

But look at that! Someone crafted the Barcelona day bed entirely out of chocolate!

Created by Leandro Erlich and Guido Mogni it’s a piece of art to die for!

“Walking closer, one realized that the couch was made of chocolate, each pleat, button, and stitch lovingly rendered with a thick coating that looked (and felt) eerily like leather. As the maid brandished serving utensils and sliced into the couch, she revealed the glorious truth: a moist, buttery layer cake with hints of cream, coffee, and liquor buried inside. The pillow was even softer, fashioned from an airy angel food cake spiked with vanilla. Viewers had difficulty deciding whether to stare or eat, but quickly settled on the latter.”

Oh how i wish i could rip that button off with my teeth!

For me December = lots of sweets! Have you heard of PapaBubble? They are a fantastic store making the dreams of thousands come true with personalized handmade caramelos! Si si!!! Their first store opened in Barcelona in 2004, and since than they conquered Tokio, Amsterdam, New York, Seaul, Lisbon and Taipei. I love the way their store look, their creativity and this is one of those great and unique Christmas gift ideas for someone special! 🙂 Yummyyyy

As for me i’m skipping Halloween (not that i ever really celebrated it :)) but i’ll be at least cooking a yummy pumpkin soup to commemorate the event! Are you up to any spooky Halloween fun this weekend?

vegetablesDid you know it’s World Vegetarian Month in October? I know people who “celebrate” by going vegetarian or even vegan for a month or a week. Did you ever try it? I was vegetarian for about two years in high school, but after a while i did miss meat so i switched to a semi-vegetarian diet (I only eat chicken now). Yeah Spanish/Catalan cuisine is not one of the reasons i want to move the Spain (except for espinacs a la Català and escalivada), nevertheless there are a couple of good looking vegetarian restaurant in BCN.  Will check them out and it’s the perfect time for you as well to fill your bodies with fresh fruits and veggies before the grey season starts! Oh and by the way I’m loving the SinCarne website! Go check it out!

VEGETALIA : one of the leading Spanish producers of organic vegetarian foods and products has opened its very first bar/restaurant and store right in the heart of Barcelona

SESAMO

JUICY JONES  probably the only 100% vegan restaurant in BCN

For a long list of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in BCN  click  at SinCarne or  HappyCow

(btw it is very surprising how many restaurants do not have a proper website these days, incredible!!!)
